As It Was 👀
Science of Attractiveness, Harry Styles, Hamnet
Hi friends,
Today was my first in-office day of the new year, which means everything went wrong. I don’t work in a hospital, but somehow I’ve had multiple emergencies today that needed my undivided attention. The items originally on my to-do list have been left begging for my attention. Does that happen to anyone else? The instance where you have one idea of how the day will go, and the universe decides to flip your plan on its head?
That seems to happen to me a lot, and I’ve learned to take a breath, maybe scream to a friend, and then get things done. I don’t know what I would have done today if my work besties weren’t in the office to hear my rants. Thankfully (read: hopefully), the conference rooms are soundproof.
In today’s newsletter, we’ll chat about laundry detergent, queer community, and the science of attractiveness.
Let’s get into it!

🍿 LISTEN AND WATCH
There is nothing Jon Benthal can star in that I won’t watch. He is starring alongside Tessa Thompson in a new Netflix thriller. His & Hers follows a married couple, though recently separated, who are investigating a murder case in their small town in Georgia. Jon plays a police detective, and Tessa plays a TV news anchor who asks the police department hard-hitting questions, even though her husband is leading the charge. I’ve already seen numerous TikTok edits about the show, so I’m excited to binge-watch it this weekend.
Something else about me is that I love a Mom show. I eat up any form of media clearly made for middle-aged women. A new Mom-approved TV show that my mom herself put on my radar is 9-1-1: Nashville. The ABC drama is the third installment of the 9-1-1 franchise created by Ryan Murphy. The show, like the others, follows the professional and personal lives of first responders. This time, the show is set in Nashville rather than LA or Austin like its counterparts. These shows are not winning any Emmys, but they’re a great talking point!
