Goodbyes, Supporting Minnesota, Friend-Group Fallacy
Hi friends,
How’s it going? Is anyone else fighting for their lives in the Harry Styles queue this week? I saw Harry in 2022 during his last MSG residency, so I guess I will be okay if I lose the Ticketmaster battle today.
Fall 2022 was also an important time in my life because I started writing the Holdette newsletter. Writing this newsletter has been the most consistent part of my life for a little over three years. It’s hard to say that today will be my last week writing the Holdette newsletter.
Every week since October 2022, I’ve scoured the internet to find interesting resources and stories to share with you all. I’ve written this newsletter in six countries and numerous time zones. I’ve recommended hundreds of movies, TV shows, and podcasts. I’ll miss writing this newsletter every week, but I’m thrilled we have one last ride.
In today’s newsletter, we’ll talk about the fallacy of large friend groups, how to get ready in a time crunch, and how to support Minnesotans.
Let’s get into it!

🍿 LISTEN AND WATCH
My roommate and I needed a good cry, so we subjected ourselves to Spoiler Alert. Based on a true story, the film chronicles Michael Ausiello's experiences after his partner is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The movie is tender and loving, and even though you know how it’s going to end, you likely still won’t be ready. The movie is streaming on Peacock!
Another tear-jerker, for an entirely different reason, is the new short documentary The Devil is Busy. The Oscar-nominated short film follows the workers at a women’s health clinic in Atlanta who are on the front lines defending reproductive health care. Tracii is the head of security at the clinic, and there is nothing she won’t do for the women who come from all over the country for life-saving treatment. The film is a tight 30 minutes, but its impact lasts a lot longer. You can find the doc on HBO Max.
