Hi friends,
Greetings from sunny South Florida! I’m home in Miami celebrating my mom’s birthday. Yes, my mom is a Virgo. I am also a Virgo. We make it work!
For her 50th, she’s having a tropical-themed extravaganza with 90 of her closest friends. I’ve helped her with the planning, and the ironic part of the whopping guest list is that she is genuinely friends with that many people. Thinking about her great friends makes me think about the connections I’ve made in my adult life. I’ve learned that community connections are vital to being alive.
These are the people we turn to when we need a lift from the airport or a plus one at a work event. Or, the type of people my mom leaned on when she received her cancer diagnosis. All my life, I’ve watched my mom support her friends, and in turn, they do the same for her.
Finding these fantastic people can be challenging. That’s why we have Holdette Community Groups! Joining community groups can help you build a supportive network in your city. You can still sign up for our fall session here!
In today’s newsletter, we’ll talk about beating jet lag, the U.S. Open, and a birth chart reading to help your finances.
Let’s get into it!

🍿 LISTEN AND WATCH
The U.S. Open began today and you should be watching! It’s the first day of the main draw and I’m in awe of the women athletes I’ve seen so far. The women are so talented. Naomi Osaka just won her first top-10 match in four years after having a baby. She cried. I cried. If you’re in NYC, you should try to go in person. If you can’t trek to the Big Apple, the tournament is even electric on ESPN.
In my Jamaican household, Celine Dion is basically Princess Diana. My entire life, my dad has played Celine Dion as if no other singer exists. Recently, she announced that she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. In the Prime Video documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, the Canadian superstar peels back the layers of her stardom. She gives us a glimpse of her life post-diagnosis with her sons and friends. Streaming now, you’ll need a box of tissues nearby while you watch.
